About Me

I'm an artist, designer, lover of history and collector of old and dusty things who has been inspired by and slightly obsessed with the Pre-Raphaelites (particularly Dante Gabriel Rossetti) since my early teens.

When I discovered the Pre-Raphaelites, I was instantly taken by their mythos, the romantic nature of their art, and the lore that surrounded them. With Rossetti particularly, I was inspired by his expressions of unusual feminine beauty and the way that he embraced aesthetics from earlier periods of art history. This has been a part of my own art and my own self-expression that I carry with me to this day. As I've grown older, I've learned more about Elizabeth Siddal and Jane Morris, and have become equally interested in their lives and works as artists in their own rights.

Beyond the Pre-Raphaelites, I have a deep interest in spiritualism and the human desire to connect with deceased loved ones. Always a lover of a good ghost story, I've been intrigued by stories of hauntings and spectral visitations since childhood. When I lost my own mother in 2005, my interest in the subject changed fundamentally forever. While I still love a good ghost story and am fascinated with Victorian spiritualism, on a personal level I am more then ever interested in our relationships with the dead and connecting to them through art, or using art as a vehicle for exploring our attempts to connect with those that have passed.

In many ways, my artistic expression since discovering the Pre-Raphaelites has been an attempt to make a connection with artists from the past, to perhaps try and ingratiate myself into their world in my own way. Not so dissimilar from the Pre-Raphaelites themselves.

I hope you enjoy your time in my little blog! I'm always happy to connect with fellow PRB lovers, so please do feel free to reach out if you would like to chat.
